Forum News: BRAC Proposal Increases Interest in Forum

With President Obama proposing a BRAC round in his budget submittal next month, states are eager to understand the process, politics and timelines. While not a done deal, the proposed BRAC is a game changer for communities. With this in mind, ADC has added several sessions at the upcoming ADC Winter Forum, Feb. 27-29 to inform communities about the potential BRAC process and learn more about how your community and state needs to be engaged.

BRAC 101: An Introduction to the Process, Politics & Possibilities

This special pre-conference session will focus on the potential BRAC process and how previous BRAC rounds have been organized. Learn from experts about how the BRAC Commission works and how your community may be impacted.

Community and State Strategies in the New Normal

Wednesday, Feb. 29, 9:30 – 11:00 AM

An interactive, outcome-driven ADC strategy session, this is an opportunity for participants to let their voices be heard in Washington by weighing in on ADC’s legislative agenda.

Preparing Your Community for Defense Cuts & the Next BRAC

Wednesday, Feb. 29, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

This discussion session will explore how communities and states are organizing in the face of defense cuts and a potential BRAC. Learn how some communities are communicating with residents and stakeholders about these potential changes to their communities.
