Section 331/Shared Services Implementation Training Workshop

Section 331/Shared Services Implementation Training Workshop

November 18-19, 2013

Presented by the Association of Defense Communities
in collaboration with the City of Monterey, CA

Since its inclusion in the National Defense Authorization Act signed into law last year, there has been strong and growing interest in the new Section 331 authority allowing shared services agreements among defense communities, the military and the private sector. The Air Force moved forward quickly, setting up a program and beginning partnership development in dozens of communities. The Army is now gearing up its own efforts. Meanwhile community-driven collaborations are beginning at installations across the country.

With so much interest and action, there is high demand for in-depth training on how to develop and implement Section 331 partnerships. ADC and the City of Monterey have teamed up to co-host the Section 331/Shared Services Implementation Training Workshop designed to provide an intensive bootcamp to any community considering the development of shared service agreements or installation staff interested in working with their communities. The workshop curriculum focuses on the following goals:

  1. Understand the authorities and military initiatives being used to implement Section 331.
  2. Learn about the history and overall way of thinking that led to the development of pioneering projects and eventually a broad authority.
  3. Apply the Monterey experience to develop, manage, and sustain public-public partnerships.
  4. Learn how to initiate partnership discussions and identify opportunities through various collaboration models.
  5. Network with peers and share emerging practices.

Through the generous support of the City of Monterey, ADC is offering this workshop at a highly discounted rate of $295 for ADC members, $350 for non-members.  Military/DoD civilian personnel are eligible for complimentary registration.
