Community Ponders Changes to Lemoore JLUS
Suggestions that the joint land use study (JLUS) for Naval Air Station Lemoore in central California needs further study before it is completed were the focus of last week’s meeting of the study’s policy committee.
The committee agreed to consider the possibility that the base would host unmanned aerial vehicles in the future and to examine the base’s ground control approach (GCA) patterns, reported the Hanford Sentinel. The GCA boxes had not been included because the study’s scope only allows consideration of Lemoore’s clear zones and accident potential zones, the project’s consultant said.
The study’s final report, intended to protect the long-term viability of the air station, will make land use recommendations to the city of Lemoore, and Kings and Fresno counties.
