Final Deal for Ft. Meade EUL Remains Elusive
The shift of several defense agencies to Fort Meade, Md., under BRAC is complete, but a final deal with a developer to build a massive office park on the post still has not been reached, reports the Washington Post.
The enhanced use lease agreement (EUL), which has been under negotiation since 2006, would allow Trammell Crow to construct 10 or more buildings totaling 1.7 million square feet of office space on a 170-acre campus at the installation. Discussions still are underway on a deal which may call for the developer to build a new golf course at Meade.
The Defense Information Systems Agency has brought almost 4,000 workers to the post, the largest chunk of 5,000 new workers moving to Meade due to BRAC. The post also is growing after being named the headquarters of U.S. Cyber Command and as a result of planned expansion by the National Security Agency.
