Ft. Monroe LRA Selects State Delegate as Next Director
The Fort Monroe Authority has selected G. Glenn Oder, a state delegate representing Newport News, Va., for the past nine years, to succeed Bill Armbruster as the LRA’s executive director.
Oder, who was chosen from a field of 60 candidates, will resign from the Virginia House of Delegates at the end of the month before taking over the reins at Fort Monroe in September. He is a landscape architect by profession with experience in real estate and community management. Oder was chosen for his background in all aspects of design, including preserving natural environments and historic resources, according to a written statement from the authority.
“The opportunity to be part of the challenge to manage and revitalize a 400-year-old historic site like Fort Monroe is like nothing I could have ever imagined,” Oder told the Daily Press.
Armbruster has served as executive director since March 2008.
