Hammack Checks out BRAC Impact at Redstone Arsenal
- December 20, 2011
Katherine Hammack, assistant secretary of the Army for installations, energy and environment, visited Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala., for three days last week to get a first-hand look at how the installation has responded to growth spawned by BRAC.
The 2005 base closure round brought 4,650 people and $435 million in construction to the arsenal, causing its population to jump 40 percent, reported the Huntsville Times. Hammack also will focus on Redstone’s energy performance to see how the 38,000-acre installation is faring regarding the Army’s “Net Zero” initiative.
