Horsham LRA Likely to Miss Deadline for Completing Willow Grove Reuse Plan
The Horsham LRA likely will need to request an extension for finishing its reuse plan for the former Naval Air Station Willow Grove, the Hatboro-Horsham Patch reported this week.
Last month the LRA’s planning consultant outlined to the board three scenarios for a walkable, mixed-use development at the 892-acre base. The board is not expected to provide RKG Associates feedback on the three proposals until its Oct. 19 meeting, or later, making it unlikely the authority will meet its December deadline, according to the story.
The alternatives for the 892-acre site located outside of Philadelphia each include a town center along with varying mixes of housing, office space, commercial and industrial uses, and open space.
Given the present timeline, the earliest any parcel at the base could be converted to a new use would be 2014, LRA Executive Director Mike McGee told an audience of local business leaders.
