Navy, Local Officials Work out Details of Pax River EUL
- May 4, 2011
At the same time as local leaders are trying to gain the support of developers for a proposed enhanced use lease (EUL) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Maryland Del. John Bohanan met with Naval Facilities Engineering Command officials to revise the project’s terms.
The latest change will prohibit retail stores and restaurants, except for sandwich shops, from leasing space in the office development, reported Southern Maryland News. The Navy has not released its request for qualifications as it is being held up at the request of Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.).
Last month, Bohanan and county leaders met with the local business representatives to make the case that the EUL project is needed for the installation to carry out its mission. Some developers oppose the project, saying it would draw tenants from offices outside of Patuxent River.
