New York Lawmakers’ Military Support Group Holds First Meeting
A bipartisan working group formed last month by U.S. Reps. Timothy Bishop (D) and Richard Hanna (R) to promote and protect military facilities and assets in New York held its first meeting last week.
“We need to work together as a delegation to ensure that New York’s military assets are not unduly and negatively impacted,” said Hanna, whose district includes several entities in Rome, N.Y., at the former Griffiss Air Force Base. Bishop’s district includes the 106th Air Rescue Wing based at Westhampton Air Base.
Maj. Gen. Patrick Murphy, adjutant general of New York and commander of the New York Army and Air National Guard, was the meeting’s featured speaker, reported AuburnPub.com.
