Northeastern Pennsylvania Revives Group to Promote Tobyhanna
With 5,500 employees and an estimated $4.4 billion annual economic impact, Tobyhanna Army Depot is a critical component of the economy in northeast Pennsylvania and one that local officials feel could be threatened by the belt-tightening exercise under way in Washington.
To make the case that the depot is a valuable part of the military logistics enterprise, a regional economic development group has revived the Tobyhanna Army Depot Blue Ribbon Task Force. The task force will meet next month for the first time in years, reports the Pocono Record.
The group will work with the area’s local, state, and federal representatives as part of an effort to promote the depot’s image. Tobyhanna is DOD’s largest, full-service electronics maintenance facility, according to its website.
