White House Pledges to Eliminate Wasteful Spending across Government
President Obama and Vice President Biden launched an initiative Monday to identify and eliminate misspent dollars in every agency and department across the federal government.
Under the executive order signed by the president, Biden will oversee efforts by cabinet agencies to eliminate government waste and improve efficiency. That board will be modeled after the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board, which requires recipients of economic stimulus funds to file periodic reports on how the funds have been spent.
Separately, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) announced legislation Monday to establish a similar oversight board, reported GovernmentExecutive.com.
