Ft. McPherson LRA to Hire Master Developer for EDC Parcel
- November 22, 2011
The McPherson Implementing Local Redevelopment Authority is looking for proposals from qualified firms to select a master developer to advance a 113-acre site at the former Fort McPherson, a 488-acre military facility located in southwest Atlanta, through its development phases.
The authority plans to turn the parcel, which will be obtained from the Army via an economic development conveyance (EDC), into a commercial node for the overall redevelopment featuring a world-class science and technology park. The authority is pursuing a long-term, public-private partnership with the master developer with a goal of converting the site into a leading bioscience and technology hub.
The solicitation does not address the remainder of the former Army post. The installation’s reuse plan envisions a multi-phased, mixed-use redevelopment consisting of the EDC parcel; a national historic landmark district with residential, office and other uses; green space and amenities; and complementary sub-areas offering mixed-use, commercial, retail and residential space.
The authority will hold a mandatory pre-proposal conference Dec. 1 at 2:00 p.m. at its offices; all potential respondents are required to attend. Responses to the request for qualifications are due by 12:00 noon on Jan. 10, 2012.
