Ft. Bragg Back on Its Feet

Ft. Bragg Back on Its Feet

Fort Bragg is fully operational, with all service members, Army civilians and contractors expected to report to duty at their normal times, officials said Wednesday, less than a week after Florence passed through dumping several feet of rain. The update on the post’s Facebook page said damage assessments are continuing; it cited damage to the South Post exchange sustained during Hurricane Florence causing it to remain closed. All access control points are operating normally, with the exception of the Manchester Road gate, which is closed due to flooding in Spring Lake. “We ask the Fort Bragg community to be patient as we return to normal operations,” the update said.

Weather forecasters warned flooding could worsen in Fayetteville, the home of Fort Bragg, with the Cape Fear River anticipated to crest Wednesday at nearly 62 feet, double its flood-stage level. The river is expected to remain at flood stage through the weekend, reported NBC News.
