In Other News: Air Force Opens Innovation Hub in Alabama; Virginia Seeks Firm for Ft. Pickett JLUS

The Air Force last week opened an innovation hub in Montgomery, Ala., that will focus on incubating ideas generated from nearby Air University at Maxwell AFB to solve technological or efficiency problems faced by the military. MGMWERX, which will operate out of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce building, is a partnership with the Air Force Research Laboratory, reported AL.com. MGMWERX “will be a model for communities around the world, fueling innovation and collaboration that creates solutions for some of the most critical issues the Air Force and our nation faces today,” said Anna Buckalew, executive vice president of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. … The commonwealth of Virginia is looking for proposals to conduct a joint land use study (JLUS) at the National Guard training base at Fort Pickett. The commonwealth was awarded a grant by the Office of Economic Adjustment to address land use issues and recommend a long-range plan to address compatible use in the region. Responses to the Fort Pickett JLUS RFP are due Oct. 5.
