In Other News: BaseFEST to Hold Musical Festivals at Four Installations; Regional Group Issues RFP for JB Lewis-McChord Military Overlay Area

BaseFEST has announced it will hold music festivals at four installations this year — Fort Bliss, Texas (May 12); Naval Station Mayport, Fla. (June 2); Camp Lejeune, N.C. (July 4); and Twentynine Palms, Calif (Sept. 22). Each one-day event is expected to attract from 15,000 to 40,000 guests, and will feature a different music lineup and activities for the whole family. BaseFEST will be free for service members and their families, DOD employees and veterans, with a limited number of tickets available for civilians, according to a press release. USAA is BaseFEST’s primary sponsor. … The South Sound Military & Communities Partnership has issued an RFP to conduct a military influence area and overlay of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. The contractor will deliver a report depicting the overlay of distance, light, height, safety, noise and compatibility factors affecting the installation. Responses are due to the city of Lakewood by May 31. For more information, contact Bill Adamson, program director, at badamson@cityoflakewood.us or 253/983-7772.
