In Other News: Siting Clearinghouse Identifies Two ‘Areas of Concern’; Foundation Introduces Portal for Locating Veterans Services

DOD’s Military Aviation and Installation Assurance Siting Clearinghouse is requesting public comment on maps of two geographic areas of concern (GAOC) — Boardman, Ore., and Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Md. The maps depict areas where proposed wind farms could have an adverse impact on military operations and readiness, including military training routes, and would require further review by the clearinghouse, according to an Aug. 8 Federal Register notice. Comments are due Sept. 7. … The Code of Support Foundation earlier this summer introduced PATRIOTLink, a cloud-based resource for connecting service members, veterans, caregivers and their families to social service agencies and government organizations who support veterans and the caregiver population. PATRIOTLink navigates through the thousands of entities supporting veterans and identifies appropriate, cost-free resources based on a veteran’s specific needs and ability to meet the eligibility requirements, according to a press release. Resources undergo a thorough vetting process and regular updates.
