Army Removes Chief of its Installation Management Command

The Army has removed the commander of its Installation Management Command (IMCOM), Army Times reported Friday.
“Gen. Gus Perna, commanding general of Army Materiel Command, has relieved Lt. Gen. Brad Becker from his position as commanding general of the U.S. Army Installation Management Command due to a loss of trust and confidence in his ability to command,” the Army announced in a statement Thursday afternoon.
“Maj. Gen. Timothy McGuire, deputy commanding general of the U.S. Army Installation Management Command, will serve as the interim commander,” the Army statement said.
Becker’s removal was not related to the command’s housing mission, Army officials said.
“We cannot comment further with an ongoing investigation, but the relief was not mission related,” said Cynthia Smith, an Army spokeswoman.
Becker assumed command nearly a year ago in September, serving as the top officer managing the Army’s operations for its installations around the globe.
Prior to commanding IMCOM, Becker served as chief of the Office of Security Cooperation-Iraq for U.S. Central Command. He also commanded the Joint Force Headquarters – National Capital Region and the U.S. Army Military District of Washington from June 2015 to April 2017.
