Members of the Coast Guard who had been working without pay have begun receiving backpay, and the Coast Guard hopes to have the distributions completed by Wednesday, according to Military.com.
The 35-day partial government shutdown ended over the weekend, but the deal between President Trump and Congress only funds some agencies – including the Department of Homeland Security, home to the Coast Guard – through Feb. 15 while negotiations continue over immigration policy.
It raises the threat of another partial shutdown.
“If it happens, we’re prepared for the worst,” Coast Guard spouse Laura Benson told Military.com.
