A new U.S. House task force looking at long-term defense strategy will hold its first hearing Oct. 29.
The bipartisan panel has a six-month charter to look at DOD’s technological capabilities to address concerns in Russia and China, but its chairmen have a more ambitious scope in mind, according to Defense News.
“We don’t think enough people are asking the big-picture questions about how we prepare for 30 years from now―and I think a lot of people at the Pentagon will agree with that,” said Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.), who is leading the task force with Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.).
The Tuesday hearing will feature former Sen. Jim Talent (R-Mo.) and Michele Flournoy, who served as under secretary of defense for policy during the Obama administration.
