In Other News: Army to Invest $2.6B in Hawaiian Facilities; DOD Offers to Host New NATO Command in Norfolk; Roosevelt Roads LRA Needs Energy Services Provider

Army installations across Hawaii will receive $2.6 billion in funding over a 32-year period to build and upgrade facilities, reports Pacific Business News. An initial five-year investment of $350 million will address a shortfall in aviation facilities at Wheeler Army Airfield needed to support newly acquired aircraft, including AH-64 Apaches with the 25th Combat Aviation Brigade, as well as improve operations facilities at Schofield Barracks. … DOD has offered to host the proposed NATO Joint Force Command for the Atlantic at its naval facilities in Norfolk, Va. The North Atlantic Council is expected to make a final decision on the location of the new command this summer, according to a press release. … The LRA for the former Naval Station Roosevelt Roads is seeking proposals for a firm to manage the property’s electrical distribution system, and finance, construct and operate a microgrid for the site located on the eastern tip of Puerto Rico. Responses to the RFP are due July 9.
