Senate Armed Services Chari Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) told reporters over the weekend he was speaking “in jest” when he said last week that Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan lacked the humility to serve as secretary and has diminished credibility in his acting role, according to Defense News.
The two met Saturday in Munich for the first time since Inhofe’s remarks last week.
“I’d be happy to have him as the secretary of defense and would work with him very well,” Inhofe told reporters in Munich, according to the article. “I think we’ve accomplished that.”
