Inhofe Plans to Ask Braithwaite About Cambridge Analytica Work

January 23, 2020

Senate Armed Services Committee Chair Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) said he plans to ask Navy secretary nominee Kenneth Braithwaite by phone about reports that Braithwaite has done past work for Cambridge Analytica, the political data company at the heart of election interference scandals in the U.S. and U.K.
CBS News first reported that Braithwaite didn’t disclose the connection when confirmed for his current post as ambassador to Norway. He has said he did not have a formal relationship that would have required disclosure.
“I have not personally talked to him about this. I know him,” Inhofe said Wednesday, according to Politico’s Morning Defense newsletter. “I understand what he has said is that he has not had any kind of a contractual relationship that would affect him or disqualify him for this. But I don’t know exactly what that means because I haven’t heard from him.”
