The Senate on Thursday confirmed the nominations of the installation and energy chiefs for the Air Force and Navy — John Henderson to be assistant secretary of the Air Force for installations, environment and energy; and Phyllis Bayer to be assistant secretary of the Navy for energy, installations and environment. Henderson had been commander of the Army Corps of Engineers’ Omaha District until last July. Bayer most recently served as chief of staff in the office of the assistant secretary of defense for readiness. A webcast of their confirmation hearing, along with their written testimony and responses to advance policy questions, is available on the Senate Armed Services Committee website.
The committee has not yet held a confirmation hearing for Alex Beehler, President Trump’s nominee for assistant secretary of the Army for installations, energy and environment.
The Senate confirmed a total of seven DOD nominees last week, reports the Washington Examiner. To date, the Trump administration has filled 41 of the department’s 57 Senate-confirmed positions.
