Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson wants to “put a little more leverage into the hands of the renters,” she told Reuters this week. She is working with the Army and Navy to put a tenant bill of rights in place following national uproar over the condition of some privatized housing.
She proposed letting military families break their leases or withhold payment if landlords do not fix pressing concerns, for example.
Wilson has instructed wing commanders to inspect all 50,000 privatized houses by March 1, according to the article.
