May 21, 2019

President Donald Trump announced Tuesday he is nominating Barbara Barrett, a former chairman of the Aerospace Corporation, as the next Air Force secretary.
“I am pleased to announce my nomination of Barbara Barrett of Arizona, and former member of the Aerospace Corporation, to be the next Secretary of the Air Force. She will be an outstanding Secretary!” Trump wrote in a tweet.
Barrett, also a former bank chairwoman, served in the George W. Bush administration as ambassador to Finland and served in the Reagan administration.
She has also worked at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the government-funded RAND Corporation, according to a Politico report.
If confirmed by the Senate, she will replace Secretary Heather Wilson, who is stepping down to become president of the University of Texas at El Paso at the end of the month.
