Design work has begun on the initial buildings for a 70-acre, mixed-use development at Kirtland AFB, N.M., according to the developer, Thunderbird Kirtland Development. The plan for the enhanced use leasing (EUL) project, named Max Q at Kirtland, calls for more than 900,000 square feet of office space with retail space as well. Construction is scheduled to begin by the end of the first quarter of 2019 after an environmental analysis is completed, Kevin Yearout told the Albuquerque Journal. “We want this to be a very pedestrian walkable space … something that will attract other companies to want to locate here; and we also want to attract companies that are already working at the Air Force base,” Yearout said.
