Corvias to Install Solar Power at Two Maryland Housing Privatization Projects

Solar installations will serve more than 1,000 homes on two installations in Maryland — Aberdeen Proving Ground and Fort Meade — under an alliance between Corvias Solutions and Onyx Renewable Partners.

In June, the two firms announced an initiative to develop renewable energy across Corvias’ public-private partnership portfolio, including its division developing and managing family housing for DOD, Corvias Military Living.

Solar production will account for up to one-third of total residential energy consumption at the two installations, after construction and interconnection to Baltimore Gas & Electric’s grid is complete, according to a press release. In addition to saving money, enhancing sustainability and improving energy resilience, the project will support DOD’s privatized housing solar challenge as part of President Obama’s Build America Initiative.

RBC Capital Markets LLC is providing financing for the effort.

“Developing innovative solutions that provide additional value for our partnerships with the public sector is our biggest priority,” said Greg Cannito, managing director of Corvias Solutions.
