Local officials last week dedicated a 3-megawatt, 12,600-panel solar array at the site of the former Sacramento Army Depot in South Sacramento.
The Depot Park Solar Field will meet about 40 percent of the electricity needs of the park’s office and industrial tenants. Surplus power generated during off-peak hours will be sold to the Sacramento Municipal Utility District. The array is located on a Superfund Site and is one of the largest ground mounted-tracking solar projects in California.
The Army closed the depot in 1994, and Depot Park now provides a home for over 120 commercial and industrial tenants within 3 million square feet of industrial warehouse, manufacturing and office space located on approximately 300 acres of land.
