Officials held a ground breaking ceremony for a Candlewood Suites hotel at Fort Riley, Kan., earlier this month.
The project is part of the Privatization of Army Lodging (PAL) initiative, a partnership between the Army and a joint venture between Lend Lease (U.S.) Public Partnerships and InterContinental Hotels Group, which operates the PAL hotels under the IHG Army Hotels name.
The hotel will provide the same amenities guests would find off the installation at any IHG hotel, include a swimming pool, fitness center, business center and a hot breakfast, reports the Fort Riley public affairs office. IHG hotels include Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites. A shuttle service also will be provided for military guests of the hotel to get around the installation.
Lend Lease closed on the second phase of the PAL program earlier this month as well. The project’s second phase calls for renovating and developing rooms at lodging facilities at 11 posts. A map of the 21 installations in the PAL program is available on the IHG Army Hotels website.
