In the coming months, the Air Force will select a developer to assume control of family housing at six installations — Minot AFB, Grand Forks AFB and Cavalier AFS, N.D.; Ellsworth AFB, S.D.; Mountain Home AFB, Idaho; and Cannon AFB, N.M.
The housing privatization project calls for the Air Force to turn over 4,800 housing units and related facilities at the bases. The winning development/property management team will be required to demolish 1,198 units, built 1,165 units and renovate 364 units, reports the Grand Forks Herald.
The bases’ existing housing is scheduled to be conveyed to private management in the spring of 2012.
