During a recent exercise in Alamo Heights, Texas, firefighters from Fort Sam Houston trained alongside personnel from San Antonio area jurisdictions to handle high-rise fires.
The training exercise was conducted as part of a mutual aid agreement the post has with area fire departments, reported Fort Sam Houston public affairs. The agreement allows the departments to train and respond to emergencies together. Sam Houston firefighters respond to calls off-post about once a month, according to the story. Occasionally the post will request assistance from area departments.
“The mutual aid agreement is really paramount because community resources are limited,” said Adam Martinez, captain of Sam Houston’s department.
