Oklahoma to Receive $1.7M for Worker Training

About 885 workers in Oklahoma will receive training in aerospace occupations as a result of a $1.7 million National Emergency Grant the U.S. Labor Department announced this week.

The funds represent the last portion of a $3.2 million grant the department awarded the state in December 2008 to help workers affected by the realignment of military installations in Oklahoma.

In 2005, the department awarded Oklahoma $250,000 to help state and local workforce investment boards conduct comprehensive and integrated locally-based strategic planning needed to support workers, communities and businesses directly or indirectly affected by that year’s round of base closures.
