In Other News: Home Depot to Expand On-Base Training Initiative for Transitioning Members

The Home Depot Foundation, in partnership with the Home Builders Institute, plans to expand a free, 12-week training program for transitioning service members offered at Fort Bragg, N.C., and Fort Stewart, Ga., to 10 additional installations in the next few years. The class covers carpentry, plumbing and related fields, and offers graduates a pre-apprenticeship certification and job placement help, reports Military Times. The foundation last week announced it will invest $50 million to train thousands of skilled laborers over the next decade, with much of the funds directed toward 15,000 transitioning personnel and veterans.
