Balfour Beatty Communities has submitted a plan to restore military family housing at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., where all 867 family homes were damaged or destroyed last year. “While Hurricane Michael brought widespread destruction… it also brought opportunity,” Balfour Beatty Communities Senior Vice President Mark Lavin said in a Friday press release. If the plan is approved, new “smart homes” could be ready by fall, the company said….
A center for homeless vets in Helena, Mont., is looking for funding after the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs stopped funding it in October, AP reported. The director of the 12-bed Willis Cruse House said it is operating month to month, and that March’s costs can be mostly covered with a gift someone left in their will.
