Appropriations Chair Granger Won’t Seek Re-Election

November 1, 2023

House Appropriations Committee Chair Kay Granger (R-Texas) does not plan to run for re-election in 2024, according to Fort Worth Report. Granger has been a strong supporter of a robust defense budget. Before becoming chair of the full committee, she chaired the subcommittee on defense spending.

She has been at odds with some of her House Republican colleagues who want to reduce spending below levels former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) had agreed to in a deal with President Biden.
