Military and civilian crews are responding and assessing damage at Naval Air Station Pensacola.
Category 2 Hurricane Sally landed in Gulf Shores, Alabama on Wednesday morning.
“We’re very fortunate,” said Jason Bortz, public affairs officer for the base, to Military Times. “We did take damage, but there were no injuries.”
Officials say that the air station sustained some wind and rain damage, as well as causing a few downed trees. Although nearly 369,000 people in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and some parts of Georgia are still without power (as of Friday); the installation currently has power up and running.
“We’re happy we were able to get the galley up and operational,” Bortz said. “There are several thousand students here and they spent a night eating MREs, so they’re sure happy about it.”
