A ceremony on Wednesday inducted 85 new partners to the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP), a DOD program which recently increased its membership to 473 to 559 members, Military Times reports.

MSEP currently has over 235,000 online job listings with organizations including Kohl’s, Allstate, the Boy Scouts of America; and the U.S. departments of State, Education, Interior, Housing and Urban Development. MSEP partner organizations have hired more than 175,000 military spouses, said Kim Joiner, deputy assistant defense secretary for military community and family policy.

According to a recent DOD survey, military spouse employment currently falls around 22 percent, a figure significantly hire than normal unemployment.

“Military spouse employment is a very important aspect of a strong and resilient military family,” said second lady Karen Pence at a recent virtual MSEP event inducting the new members.
