Space Command Finalist List Includes Installations in Colorado, Alabama, California

April 8, 2019

An Air Force memorandum obtained by CNN lists the six military bases that could house the proposed U.S. Space Command.
The list includes four proposed locations in Colorado and two others in Alabama and California.
The Colorado locations are Buckley Air Force Base, Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, Peterson Air Force Base, and Schriever Air Force Base.
The Army’s Redstone Arsenal in Alabama, and Vandenberg Air Force Base in California are the other proposed finalists.
The list is expected to disappoint Florida lawmakers who had advocated for the new command to be located there. Florida Republicans Sen. Marco Rubio and Rep. Michael Waltz had publicly urged DOD leaders to locate the command in their home state.
