To maintain ADC membership, an annual contribution is required. The contribution amounts are given in the table below and are based on organization type.

Member Dues & Categories

Community/State Basic Membership

$450/yr


Civic organizations in this category have a public-focused mission of supporting the military, installations and defense activities in their communities, regions and states. They consist of military support organizations at the community, regional and state level, including (but not limited to) military-community partnering organizations, local/state government and chambers of commerce. They also include Local Redevelopment Authorities and the civic organizations responsible for developing closed installations for their use by the community.

Industry Membership

$1,700/yr


This category gives private organizations, which includes contractors, consultants or research organizations opportunities to support DoD, communities, states and related groups. Organizations may be for profit or not for profit, but have an interest in supporting and advancing issues that are important to defense communities and the military. ADC offers a discounted rate for qualified small businesses ($850). Contact ADC for more information.

Defense Community Leadership Circle & Sustaining Membership

$1,500/yr


Community/state members in the category enjoy a higher level of visibility in the form of special benefits and services. This level also provides longtime supporters of ADC with an opportunity to play a more significant role in the organization’s activities.

America's Defense Communities Magazine

Published annually, this unique publication tells the story of America’s defense communities and military installations through the eyes of the people who and organizations that make them great. ADC members receive special discounts on ad space in this publication, which is distributed nationwide and to key national decision makers.

Research Publications and Content

Through its  publications program, ADC issues a broad range of informational materials, ranging  from policy reports to national surveys, all of which are designed to inform and educate its members and their stakeholders. Readers can also search through ADC’s conference presentations archive to download copies of sessions that discuss a broad array of issues relevant to defense communities.

This fee-for-service support brings the knowledge and experience of our membership to your community or organization through a variety of direct assistance programs, including peer-to-peer consultations, site visits, customized research and publishing.

ADC gives its members unique access to its expert team of writers, designers and video producers on a fee-for-service basis to help tell their stories through specialized graphic design services, communication collateral, custom magazines and videos. Competitively priced and highly skilled, this team is a go-to source for effective communication and marketing products and services.

Regional Events

Members can bring ADC events to communities, states or regions by holding ADC Regional Forums, which help them to educate their stakeholders on the important issues defense communities and the military face.

Sponsorship Program

Members have the privilege of playing high-profile roles in ADC events and programs through the association’s sponsorship program. From year-long partnerships to event specific roles, ADC’s sponsorship opportunities give members the chance to meet directly with leaders from DoD and around the country.

Frequently Asked Questions

When do I need to make my membership contribution each year?

There are two membership cycles for reminders/invoices: Winter (January 1 – December 31) and Summer (July 1 – June 30). A reminder/invoice for your contribution will be sent to the admin and primary contacts via email at least one month before the end of the cycle.

The cycle you are on is determined by when your membership application and first payment is received:

April 1 – September 20 (Reminder in Summer)

What types of membership are available?

ADC membership is organization-based – with individual members acting as representatives of their organizations. There are three primary membership categories: Community/State Basic Membership, Industry Membership, Community/State Sustaining Membership. Organizations who do not fit the primary membership categories may apply for ADC’s Affiliate Membership category ($450). Small businesses may apply to qualify for a discounted Industry rate ($850).

Will my membership information be kept confidential?

Membership information collected by ADC remains confidential. Your email or postal address may be sold or shared within our member organization, not sold to outside entities. You can opt out of having your addresses shared at any time by contacting our Membership Department.

When registering for a conference, can others in my organization register as a member?

ADC membership is organization-based. Anyone from your organization wanting to attend an ADC event will be able to take full advantage of member registration fees.

Who is eligible?

Community, regional, and state members of ADC who are looking to distinguish themselves as one of America’s leading defense communities. This includes Local Redevelopment Authorities (LRAs), active base community organizations and state organizations.

What is the cost?

$1,500 per year. Payment can be made quarterly or in semi-annual installments. Sustaining members are also eligible to purchase up to (4) ADC Event Passes for $400 each. These passes are good for one registration at any ADC event. This is an average of $300 in savings for each event.
